What to Bring to Canada?
Tackle, landing net, minnow bucket, scales and fillet knife for starters. A life jacket is a must. Children should always wear them when in a boat or near shore and on the dock. A small first aid kit comes in handy at times. Don't forget warm, sturdy clothing, lighter weight apparel for camp wear, your rain gear, a pair of sun glasses, a cap and sun guard for protection.
If you need medicine please be sure to bring your own...
Remember, your vacation is your reward for working hard all year so above all, bring a pleasant disposition, a little optimism, and an open mind.
When is the best time to come?We are open from mid-April thru mid-November for early ice-out fishing thru Deer and Moose hunting in the fall. Come whenever you can! Every month of the seasons has its own special advantages. And you can always enjoy the beauty of the forest and the abundant wildlife.
April, May and June are probably best for "easy" fishing. Trout are still up, walleyes and northern pike are feeding in the shallows and crappie fishing is at its peak.
July and August are a great time for bass, muskies and crappies. Walleyes, Northern Pike and Trout are down deeper, however the fishing is good for the ardent and patient fisherman. This is the best time to plan your vacation if you enjoy swimming or just loafing in the sun.
September and October are very good months. Larger fish are caught as a rule as the "big boys" are stoking up for the winter Many hunters also come at this time of year and combine hunting and fishing according to weather conditions Hunt early and late and at mid day catch "slab" black crappies for dinner.
As they say, "It don't get any better than this!"
